Following on from our work completed in June 2020, we've recently manufactured and installed another 60 tonnes of podium steelwork for Exeter's Nightingale Hospital.
The 116 bed hospital, which is located on the Sowton Industrial Estate in a converted warehouse, was decommisioned in April 2021 and bought by the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust. The site is now being expanded to offer extended services for orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, rheumatology services, plus MRI and CT scans. Plans for developing it include providing:
- Two operating theatres for day case and short-stay elective orthopaedic procedures;
- A high-volume cataract and diagnostic hub for glaucoma and retina conditions;
- A community diagnostic hub to include CT and MRI scanning; and
- An outpatient rheumatology and infusions centre.
Working with principal contractor, Nevada Construction Ltd, we were able to reserve manufacturing slots with our suppliers before completing the design, manufacture and installation within a 10 week period.
