A career in welding and fabrication at Taunton Fabrications has just started for two local school leavers.
The company received more than twenty apprenticeship applications this year and, after two interviews and a three day work experience "taster" session, Katie Trevarthen-Land & Elliot Bishop were both selected. They have now enrolled on a three year Engineering Apprenticeship (Level 3) at Bridgwater & Taunton College - specialising in welding & fabrication at the new multi-million pound Welding Centre of Excellence. The EDF Apprenticeship Levy Transfer scheme has also helped support the creation of these apprenticships.
Even better, is the fact that they are being supervised and mentored by former apprentice, Daisy Smith, who has just completed her Level 4 apprenticeship. Daisy says;
I'm looking forward to the challenge, but because I've just recently completed my own apprenticeship I feel that I'm well qualified to understand the issues that Katie & Elliot will face and help advise them how to get the best out of their training.
