After months of planning and manufacturing, the imposing helical staircase at the new Halo Building has been installed at the Bristol site for Willmot Dixon.
This 7 storey cantlivered helical stair has been fabricated with a 800mm + stringer depth; all helically rolled. The plates themselves were plasma cut and welded, and manufactured on a bespoke jig so that each flight could be fitted to each other before it arrived on site. The stair was split into 3 flights per floor, with each flight being fully fabricated at our dedicated BUILDOFFSITE facility before the installation took place. Chris Sampson, Taunton Fabrication's Sales and Commercial Director, explains:
“This has been the most challenging feature stair that Taunton Fabrications has undertaken, with a 6 month fabrication period. We have been involved from the early concept of the stair and have looked at around 15 variations, before the final concept moved forwards to construction. This stair will make Halo the premier atrium within the south west."
Covering seven floors and providing 116,133 sq ft of Grade A office space, the Halo building will set new standards of sustainability, well-being and digital connectivity for offices in Bristol, following the successful approach taken by Cubex with the adjacent Aurora that we also built.
